    He did not begin speaking English until the age of six.
    As a child, he lied to his mother about going to see a Red Sox game with a friend, when he actually went solo.
    He never played the game professionally.
    His tenure with the White Sox saw him trade away a significant amount of prospects to build a competitive team.
    He oversaw an Orioles team that started off the 1988 season with a 21 game winless streak.
    His Orioles teams failed to reach the playoffs in his eight year reign as general manager.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was born to French-Canadian parents who settled in Rhode Island.
    He began his baseball career working from the lowest positions up to the executive ranks.
    He was credited with helping develop the modern minor league system.
    He worked in the MLB office as a special projects officer under Peter Ueberroth after leaving the White Sox.
    He worked for both the Angels and Diamondbacks when both franchises were starting out.
    He was a member of the White Sox front office when the team ended their 88 year World Series drought (2005).
    He was considered a true baseball lifer, who helped mentor many people looking to make their start in the front office level.
