Why he might be annoying:

    He could not compete with the world top speed skaters in the 1986 and 1987 World Junior Championships.
    At his debut at the 1988 World Championships in Alma-Ata, he failed to qualify for the final distance.
    He wound up in fifteenth place in the 1988 European Allround Championships.
    He divorced businessperson and politician Belinda Stronach after four years of marriage.
    Chelsea Clinton was a bridesmaid at his second wedding.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He competed at the 1992 Winter Olympics five days after undergoing surgery because of an inflamed pancreas.
    His performances at the 1994 Winter Olympics set world records at the time.
    He was named 'Sports Illustrated' magazine's Sportsman of the Year along with American speed skater Bonnie Blair in that same year.
    He won the Oscar Mathisen Award three times.
    He is close friends fellow Norwegian Olympian gold medalist Bjorn Daehlie.
    After speed skating, he trained as a physician at the University of Queensland in Australia.
    He has been involved in many charitable and humanitarian organizations such as UNICEF.
