Why he might be annoying:

Many Leaf fans use him as the scapegoat for the Leafs not being able to reach the Stanley Cup Finals since 1967.
He had an extremely cantankerous relationship with Leafs owner Harold Ballard.
It got so bad that Ballard blocked any potential trade that involved him.
He decided to play in the World hockey Association instead of for Ballard.
He refuses to be associated with the Leafs organization and has rejected many requests for the team to honor his number.
He refused to attend the closing of Maple Leaf Gardens despite the fact that Ballard hadn't owned the team in nine years.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the Leafs' best offensive player during the 1960's.
He was a very good defensive forward in his prime.
He is extremely popular in his hometown of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec that they renamed the local arena after him.
He remains the only Leaf to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP to date.
He remains one of the more popular players to ever play for the Leafs franchise, despite the fact he snubs every reconciliation offer the team gives him.
