    Born in Lima, Peru
    Birth name was Isabel Flores de Oliva
    Patron saint of florists, gardeners, Peru, the Philippines and Latin America

Why she might be annoying:

    To discourage suitors, she cut off her hair and disfigured her face with pepper and lye.
    She wore a spiked metal crown and an iron chain about her waist.
    She slept on a pile of broken glass, bricks and thorns.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She cared for the sick and poor.
    Her funeral had to be postponed because of the huge crowds of mourners who wanted to attend.
    She was the first native of the New World to be canonized.
