The Resume

    (March 13, 2004-June 2, 2005)
British TV series about two female detectives investigating murder in suburban England
Starred Caroline Catz and Lisa Faulkner

Why Murder in Suburbia might be annoying:

Its portrayal of how murders are investigated in England had no connection to reality.
It performed poorly in the ratings and lasted only twelve episodes spread over two seasons.
The two female leads had interchangeable personalities to the point it was the second season before the viewer could tell which one had the higher rank.
The women had dumb nicknames, 'Ash' and 'Scribbs.'
Besides the two leads, only two other police officers had speaking roles during the entire run of the series.
Are the 'burbs in England really that violent?

Why Murder in Suburbia might not be annoying:

Unlike most British police shows, it had a light-hearted tone.
It went blessedly light on techno-babble.
Minimum time was spent on the two women's romantic lives.
It has inspired a great deal of fan fiction; some good, some pornographic, some both.
The cast was genuinely, very talented.
It wasn't even remotely like Cagney & Lacey.
The DVD release is very, very well done.
It has done well in the ratings on American television.
