He's been in a lot of not-so-successful films.
Jack picks on him a lot in Tenacious D performances.
He keeps quitting the band and returning in their routines as well.
He does disgusting things in the cult classic Tenacious D short films, such as drinking his own sperm to sing better and giving birth (out his ass!!!).

Why he might not be annoying:

He's a great straight man.
His guitar playing skills are amazing.
He doesn't seem to mind frequently being in Jack's shadow.
He said: 'I hate working. I hate having to sacrifice my valuable time to be a wage slave for the rich.'
