Why they might be annoying
They were a Canadian experiment that went wrong.
They had the worst start of any NBA franchise in history.
They never won more than 23 games in their first seven seasons.
Their first draft pick was Bryant 'Big Country' Reeves.
Steve Francis refused to play for them and forced them to trade him to the Rockets.
They were going to be called the Vancouver Mounties, but the Royal Canadian Mounted Police objected.
They went through several owners during their brief stay in Canada.
When they moved to Memphis, FedEx tried to buy the naming rights so the team would be called the Memphis Express. The NBA refused.
Jason Williams said that they sucked.
Why they might not be annoying
Due to the expansion agreement, they couldn't win the draft lottery its first few years, which meant that they were unfairly shut out of drafting players such as Tim Duncan.
After hiring general manager Jerry West and coach Hubie Brown, the Grizzlies went from perpetual losers to winners.
They had their first 30-win season, 40-win season, and 50-win season in the same year (2003-04).
At least there are no Elvis references in their name.
