    Born in Inverness, Mississippi
Birth name was James Milton Campbell, Jr.
Blues and soul singer and guitarist
Recorded the singles 'So Mean To Me' (1962), 'We're Gonna Make It' (1965), 'Who's Cheating Who?' (1965), 'Feel So Bad' (1967), 'Grits Ain't Groceries' (1969), 'Just a Little Bit' (1969), 'Baby I Love You' (1970), 'If Walls Could Talk' (1970), 'That's What Love Will Make You Do' (1973) and 'Friend of Mine' (1976)
Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame (1988)

Why he might be annoying:

He dropped James as his first name after he discovered he had a half-brother with the exact same name (and also presumably discovered he had a dad with a serious lack of imagination).
He was playing in bars when he was underage.
'We're Gonna Make It' was the only one of his songs to cross over to the pop Top 40.

Why he might not be annoying:

As a producer and talent scout, he discovered Albert King and Fontella Bass.
He won the W.C. Handy Award as Blues Entertainer of the Year (1988).
He headlined a blues festival in London four months before his death and said, 'As long as I can enjoy what I'm doing, there'll be no retiring.'
