    It re-used sets from the first four 'Star Trek' movies.

    Most of the crew were fans of anime.
    It borrowed its theme from 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture.'
    Gene Roddenberry, creator of this and the original 'Star Trek' series, died in the middle of the series run.
    It was the anchor show to launch a new TV network.
    For years, after 'Star Trek' was cancelled there were rumors of a new 'Star Trek' series. Eighteen years after the cancellation, 'Star Trek: The Next Generation,' aired.
    Paramount took a chance and had the series produced for first-run syndication rather than being broadcast on a network.
    It was so successful that now many other television series (such as Baywatch, Hercules, Xena: Warrior Princess and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) are made-for-syndication.
    Many believe this series had better writing and acting than the original.
    Former president Ronald Reagan visited the set during filming and after being introduced to several actors in full Klingon warrior gear, he said, 'I like them. They remind me of Congress.'
    The set is preserved at the Hollywood Entertainment Museum.
    Many actors from the original 'Star Trek' made guest appearences.
    Many believe the quality of the series got better as it went along.
    It had some very polished special effects.
    It was the first show in syndication to be nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series (1994).
    It is a milestone in science fiction television.
