Why Car 54, Where Are You? might be annoying:

The front of the studio was made to resemble a real police station, so much so that they had to put up signs telling the public it was not a real police station.
Their studio burned down shortly after they shot their last show.
Joe E. Ross' character of Gunther Toody was a rip off of his character on Nat Hiken's Sgt. Bilko
Although cops, they were more interested in meddling with others than crime fighting.

Why Car 54, Where Are You? might not be annoying:

The show was extraordinarily ethnically diverse and enjoyed harmless stereotyping that now would be considered political incorrect.
At the time, New York City police cars were green and white, but their cop cars were red and white, to avoid confusing the public. The show was filmed in black and white so viewers were none the wiser
Shari Lewis, Jan Murray, Wally Cox, Molly Picon and Mitch Miller guest appeared.
Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis went on to do The Munsters and although Gwynne hated discussing the Munsters but was proud of his work on Car 54.
The show spawned a movie and an animated series.
    Theme Song:
There's a hold up in the Bronx,
    Brooklyn's broken out in fights.
There's a traffic jam in Harlem
That's backed up to Jackson Heights.
    There's a scout troup short a child,
    Kruschev's due at Idlewild
