Why he might be annoying:

He got his name from a commercial in which 'Gramps,' the original Cuckoo Bird, called him 'Sonny.'
He has an extremely high-pitched voice.
He coined the phrase: 'I'm cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!'
He pushes his unhealthy breakfast cereal to kids.
In the late 1980's, he put out a compilation cassette, 'Sonny's Top Tunes' (of course, available in specially marked boxes of Cocoa Puffs).

Why he might not be annoying:

Since the release of 'Reduced Sugar Cocoa Puffs' with 75% less sugar, he seems to be more subdued.
Proving that anybody can enter the political arena, Sonny ran in the 2000 election against 'Donkey' and 'Elephant.'
