    Recorded the singles 'The Same Sweet Girl' (1949), 'Let Me Be the One' (1953), 'Why Baby Why' (1954), 'Geisha Girl' (1957), Please Send Me the Pillow You Dream On' (1957), 'It's a Little More Like Heaven' (1958), 'Please Help Me I'm Falling' (1960), 'Happy Journey' (1961), and 'The Country Music Hall of Fame' (1967)
    Member of the Grand Ole Opry (1960-2004)

Why he might be annoying:

    He dropped out of high school to play music full time.
    After his first radio performance of 'Please Send Me the Pillow You Dream On,' the station was inundated with some 200 pillows sent in by listeners.
    'Please Help Me I'm Falling' was his only song to cross over to the pop charts.
    He had a hit with the song 'The Country Music Hall of Fame,' but (as of 2022) has not been inducted into the Hall himself.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He learned to play guitar while recovering after being hit by a school bus.
    He was one of the first country artists to record concept albums.
    'Please Help Me I'm Falling' was #1 on Billboard's country chart for 14 weeks and was a top ten pop hit in both the US and UK.
    Billboard's 100th anniversary issue (1994) ranked 'Please Help Me I'm Falling' as the second-most successful country single of the rock 'n' roll era.
