    He goes by J.R., despite the fact his name is actually Herman.
    He played on six different teams, which included two separate stints with the Hornets.
    He was relegated primarily to sixth man duties after his rookie season, in which he started every game.
    He threw an intentional elbow at A.C. Green, knocking out two of Green's front teeth in the process (February 25, 1996).
    He earned a $10,000 fine and was suspended two games for his actions.

    He is the son of former Baltimore Colts tackle Herman Reid.
    He initially planned to pursue a career in football, before opting to pursue basketball full-time.
    He was a member of the U.S. Olympic basketball team that won the bronze medal at the Seoul Olympics (1988).
    He earned All-American honors in his sophomore year at the University of North Carolina (1988).
    He was considered a serviceable presence off the Hornets bench during his six seasons with the team.
