    He spent the first seven years of his life growing up on an isolated island on Lake of the Woods.

    He opted to skip his senior season at Yale to turn pro, despite not having been drafted by a team.

    He frequently bounced around between the NHL and the minors during his first few seasons.

    He grew up in the Lake of the Woods area, due to his parents being managers of a fishing lodge in the region.
    He was a standout goaltender for his high school ice hockey team.
    He earned co-Rookie of the Year honors during his first season at Yale.
    He recorded 94 saves in a 2018 AHL playoff game, which was recorded as being the longest game in league history (146:48; May 9, 2018).
    He performed well for the Panthers in relief of Sergei Bobrovsky, guiding the Panthers to an improbable playoff push (2022-23).
