Why they might be annoying:

Their Brooklyn arrival marked the second time the franchise has moved from New Jersey to New York.
They played up Jay-Z's ownership in the team, though his stake in the team was less than one percent.
The long delay in getting the Barclays Center built led to several lame duck seasons in New Jersey.
They attempted to use their move to make a big splash in free agency, but the best player they acquired in their first Brooklyn season was Joe Johnson.
They use a black-and-white color scheme.
Their Brooklyn home debut (a game against the New York Knicks) got postponed due to Hurricane Sandy.

Why they might not be annoying:

They are the first major sports team to call Brooklyn home since the Dodgers left for L.A. in 1957.
Historically, they had more success in New York (two titles in nine ABA seasons) than New Jersey (two NBA Finals appearances in 35 years).
Their Jay-Z-designed logo was inspired by vintage New York City subway signs.
They promoted their arrival with the titles of area-inspired hip hop songs such as the Beastie Boys' 'Hello Brooklyn.'
Their principal owner, Mikhail Prokhorov, was the first person from outside of North America to own an NBA team.
Their move to the Brooklyn borough led to an even stronger geographical rivalry with the New York Knicks.
