Why Malcolm in the Middle might be annoying:

There are arguments among fans of the show whether the family has a last name or not.
A cut scene in the pilot reveals it to be 'Wilkerson,' but it wasn't mentioned since then due to not tying the family to a certain ethnicity.
Hal, the dad, seems a lot more immature than any of his kids.
It took a year after Jamie's birth for the show to finally reveal his gender.
Though Reese is Malcolm's older brother, in real life Malcolm is three months older than Reese.
Its working title was 'Fighting in Underpants.'
In order to have a completely animated lineup, FOX moved it from its popular Sunday night spot to Friday nights (2005).
During the War in Iraq, it featured a storyline where Reese joined the military, but immediately deserted his unit upon landing in the Middle East.
European fans launched an online petition for the release of the show's first season on DVD.

Why Malcolm in the Middle might not be annoying:

It's been called a 'live-action version of the Simpsons.'
It is a comedy without a laugh track.
The opening sequence featured several goofy movie and sports clips mixed in with scenes from the show.
It won five Emmy Awards (as of 2005) and a Peabody Award.
It was named 'Time' magazine's television comedy of the year (2000).
When actress Jane Kaczmarek became pregnant in real life, her pregnancy was written into the show.
They Might Be Giants received their first Grammy for writing and performing the theme song.
