Rather than push and slap at the start like most sumo wrestlers, Chiyonofuji would immediately pounce on his opponent's mawashi (diaper).
His nickname is 'The Wolf.'
He goes by a presumptuous single name.

He won thirty-one championship victories (one short of Taiho's all-time record).
He dominated sumo wrestling in the 1980's.
He is small for a sumo, often giving away 100 lbs or more to his opponents.
Chiyonofuji was an exciting wrestler often throwing and slamming his opponent to the ground.
