Why he might be annoying:

    He never won an individual award during his playing career.
    He was called 'The Earl of Snohomish,' due to his first name and hometown.
    He is remembered for hitting the line drive that ended Dizzy Dean's career (1937).
    He made headlines by insisting on carrying his baseball bat in a gun case, while on a flight.
    He was outspoken in regards to the Baseball Hall of Fame, going as far as saying he would have made arrangements not to be posthumously inducted.

    He is the Cleveland franchise's all-time leader in total bases, RBI's, runs scored and triples.
    He was the first player in major league history to record four home runs in a doubleheader.
    He hit a home run in his first major league at-bat (1929).
    He was injured by a malfunctioning firecracker, which burned his face and chest, along with lacerations on the fingers.
    He suffered from a congenital spine condition near the end of his career, which caused him to significantly change his batting stance.
