Football Player

The Resume

    (November 13, 1985- )
    Born in Avondale, Louisiana
Played college football for Texas A&M (Aggies)
Defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks (2009; 2013- ) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2009–12)
Protested police brutality by sitting during the singing of the National Anthem (August, 2017)
Arrested outside of a Las Vegas nightclub, after attending a McGregor-Mayweather fight, by two police officers who mistook him for an active shooter; arrest later became subject of an investigation after he attested to experiencing racial profiling (2017)

Why he might be annoying:

He has donned a dashiki for pressers on several occasions.
He told Charlamagne Tha God he was working on a book called 'Things That Make White People Uncomfortable.'
Google searches for his name regularly turn up content related to a Colorado Senator, a choreographer, and a Minnesota Vikings player who was jailed for fraud in 2012.
He modeled his celebratory 'sack dance' on Rick Rude's trademark 'swivel.'
He made an off-color joke about Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford after a 13-10 victory over his team, saying 'He’s from Dallas - They killed President [John F. Kennedy]. I hold that against him.'
He was accused of exaggerating claims of abuse at the hands of Las Vegas police officers.
He took a victory lap around Century Link Field on a Seattle police officer's bicycle he commandeered after the Seahawks' 2015 NFC Championship win over the Green Bay Packers.
His neutral zone violation in the waning seconds of Super Bowl XLIX gave the Patriots enough extra room to avoid risking a safety, snuffing the Seahawks' (admittedly thin) chance for a comeback.
He held up a raised fist 'Black Power salute' to celebrate his first sack against the 49ers (September, 2017).

Why he might not be annoying:

He is the older brother of NFL tight end Martellus Bennett.
He earned a Pro Bowl selection, despite missing five games with a  knee injury (2016).
He helped the Seahakws lead the NFL in scoring defense for a third consecutive year in 2014, making them only the third team in NFL history to accomplish that feat.
He admitted to blasting Future in the Seahawks' locker room (much to the apparent annoyance of Russell Wilson), during his Breakfast Club interview.
He does charity work through local Seattle charities, as well as through his own foundation, which works to combat childhood obesity and promote affordable nutrition for kids.
He was one of the earliest and most vocal supporters of Colin Kaepernick and his National Anthem protests, chiding both the NFL and Seahawks ownership for blackballing him by denying him employment.
He cited the riots surrounding the Charlottesville 'Unite the Right' rally as factoring into his decision to join the National Anthem protests.
He became the subject of a widely circulated fake meme appearing to show him burning an American flag in a locker room with other Seahawks looking on gleefully (it turned out to be a shamefully doctored fake).
The Las Vegas Police Union, and later conservative skeptics, touted the police body cam footage as disproving his claim of brutality, even though it clearly demonstrated exactly what his written statement detailed (forcible detainment with no charge).
He defended his activism to reporters, saying: 'Do I think every police officer is bad? No, I don't believe that. Do I believe there are some people out there that judge people by the color of their skin? I do believe that... It sucks that (in) the country that we live in now, sometimes you get profiled for the color of your skin, and it's a tough situation for me.'
