Why she might be annoying:

She made her stage debut at age four in 'Madame Butterfly' at the Met.
She and Burgess Meredith starred on Broadway in ‘Happy as Larry’ (it closed after a single day).
She was replaced as Morey Amsterdam’s wife Pickles on The Dick Van Dyke Show by Joan Shawlee at the end of the show’s first season.
The change may have been due to her going off to star on ‘The Hathaways’ as Thelma Brockwood.
Ratings were so low for the program that ABC had to self-sponsor it in its first and last season where it died a quiet death.

Why she might not be annoying:

Her mother got her into ballet dancing as a form of childcare while she and her husband were separated and while she was singing with the Metropolitan Opera.
She began her film career when she was twelve, appearing in 1933’s ‘Counselor at Law.’
