The Resume

    (February 26, 1977- )
    Born in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia
Directed 'Saw,' 'Insidious,' 'Insidious: Chapter 2,' 'Dead Silence,' 'Death Sentence,' 'The Conjuring,' 'The Conjuring 2,' and 'Furious 7'
    Directed 'Aquaman' (2018)
Produced 'The Nun' (2018) and 'Annabelle Comes Home' (2019)

Why he might be annoying:

    He dyes his hair reddish-purple.
He happily confines himself to the horror-action genre.
Despite this, he admits to being squeamish when watching horror movies from other directors.
IMDB lists one of his trademarks as 'Ventriloquist dolls' (that might explain why his Instagram handle is @creepypuppet).
He allegedly fought to keep Amber Heard in 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' but then unfollowed her on Instagram and reportedly had her role cut down to ten minutes due to the bad press surrounding her legal battle with Johnny Depp (make up your mind!).

Why he might not be annoying:

He's of Malaysian-Chinese descent but was raised in Australia.
He cites Dario Argento and David Lynch as influences.
'Saw' was met with overwhelming success, breaking all box office records for horror movies to that point.
Under his direction, Aquaman was a surprise blockbuster - and a badly needed boost for the DCU and Warner Bros after several huge disappointments.
He is both the first Asian and Australian director to a have film make a billion dollars at the box office.
He's only the second director - after James Cameron - to have two films that were not in the same franchise reach the billion dollar mark (Aquaman and Furious 7).
He said: 'We think craft is important, and the irony has always been that horror may be disregarded by critics, but often they are the best-made movies you're going to find in terms of craft.'
