    Guard for St. Joseph's University (1954-57)
    Assistant coach for the St. Joseph's men's basketball team (1960-65), Milwaukee Bucks (1974-76) and the Portland Trail Blazers (1976-79)
    Head coach for the Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science men's basketball team (1965-66), St. Joseph's men's basketball team (1966-74), Los Angeles Lakers (1979), Indiana Pacers (1980-84) and the Kansas City Kings (1984)
    NBA Coach of the Year (1981)

Why he might be annoying:

    He never played a game in the professional ranks.
    His tenure as the Lakers head coach ended after 13 games, after he was involved in a bike accident.
    He was the one who created the Showtime offense for the Lakers, but didn't get the credit.
    His Pacers team gradually regressed in four years he was at the helm.
    He resigned as the Kings head coach after only nine games (1984).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He got his start playing basketball under legendary coach Dr. Jack Ramsay.
    He served as an assistant coach under Ramsay in Portland during their championship season, which he considered the highlight of his career.
    He was recognized by his former players on the Lakers for creating the Showtime offense, made popular during Pat Riley's head coaching tenure.
    He finally had a fair chance to be a head coach in the NBA when he took the Pacers job.
    He guided the Pacers to the franchise's first playoff berth following the NBA-ABA merger (1980-81).
