Why she might be annoying:

    She tried to sue her ex-husband for child support but the Supreme Court ruled against her (1978).
    She and her second husband founded/operated a 'school' of the Fourth Way which some former students have asserted is actually a cult (she denied this).
    She had a history of siphoning cash from followers to support her wealthy lifestyle.
    She relocated to New York after being driven out of San Francisco when a similar operation of hers was exposed in 1978.
    Her group allegedly engaged in various forms of physical and emotional abuse of its members, including forced adoptions, arranged marriages, physical abuse and forced-labor.
    The Odyssey Study Group allegedly barred gays and African-Americans from its membership.
    She was accused of using members of the Fourth Way as slave labor on her Montana ranch property.
    Her own son left the group and sued his siblings in an effort to dissolve the corporation that owned the Montana ranch (2015).
    Her death was followed by a class action lawsuit filed in the New York Supreme Court against her Estate by former Fourth Way students, alleging to have been duped into becoming her unpaid servants.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Theater and performance studies.
    She won an Obie Award for Best Actress for her performance in 'Soon Jack November' (1961).
    She received positive reviews as Billy Pilgrim's wife, Valencia Merble, in George Roy Hill's 'Slaughterhouse Five' film adaptation.
    She produced and starred in the acclaimed documentary Artists and Orphans: A True Drama, which was nominated for an Academy Award.
    She successfully duped Rosie O'Donnell into narrating Artists and Orphans.
