Why she might be annoying:

She was overshadowed by Billie Jean King, both as her frequent doubles partner and as a fellow advocate for paying female players the same prize money as male players.
She called King 'the old lady' despite being her junior by only five years.
Asked if she felt good about having helped make it possible for, say, Venus Williams to receive $2 million for winning a Grand Slam tournament, she replied, 'No, I'd rather have the $2 million myself.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She and her sister were raised by their great-uncle and aunt after their parents, immigrants from El Salvador, concluded they were financially unable to care for their children.
Chris Evert said, 'She is the mother hen on the tour who organizes everything from breakfasts to Scrabble tournaments. She'd give you the shirt off her back if she liked you.'
She said, 'I've always been a fighter, on and off the court. So I came at the right time in the mid-60s and 70s, when there was so much going on for women.'
