Opposed US entry into every war in her lifetime (World Wars I and II, Korean War, Vietnam War)
Traveled to India and met Mahatma Gandhi

Why she might be annoying:

She was the only member of Congress to vote against the declaration of war on Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor (1941).
She tried to justify her position by saying: 'Killing more people won't help matters' (even as the Japanese were planning to invade Hawaii).
A mob nearly attacked her when she left the Capitol (the police had to step in).
She believed that Roosevelt incited the Japanese attack.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was the first woman elected to Congress.
She fought for women's rights, including equal pay, suffrage and the right to independent citizenship.
She was a rancher.
Between her terms in Congress, she successfully campaigned for four laws that gave women more rights.
She said that 'men and women are like right and left hands; it doesn't make sense not to use both.'
