Entrepreneur

The Resume

Birth name was Richard Todd Davis
Co-founder and CEO of LifeLock, a personal fraud protection company
Gives out his Social Security number (457-55-5462) in ads to promote the company
Corporate spokespersons have included Fred Thompson, Howard Stern and Rush Limbaugh

Why he might be annoying:

He became an identity theft victim when a man in Texas used his heavily publicized social security number to obtain a $500 payday loan.
The alleged identity thief did not face criminal charges because LifeLock intervened before the police had finished their investigation and coerced the suspect into a videotaped confession that is inadmissible in court.
According to a class action lawsuit, over 25 people are using Davis' social security number.
The safeguards that LifeLock charges $120 for can be activated by the consumer for free.
The credit information company Experian sued LifeLock for fraud and false advertising (2008).

Why he might not be annoying:

Publicizing his social security number was a good sales technique, as the number of LifeLock subscribers went from 30,000 to 500,000 in 2007.
He says he gives out his SSN to publicize the fact that the information is already available if someone wants to go digging for it.
He raises money for the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation.
