The Resume

    (February 7, 1993- )
Born in Reading, Berkshire, England, United Kingdom
With Jack Laugher, won an Olympic gold medal in 3-meter springboard synchronized diving (2016)
Also won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games (2014, 2018) and one gold medal at the European Championships (2016)
    Recorded the single 'Mexico' (2015)
Named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (2017)

Why he might be annoying:

He started training in diving because the gymnastics class his mother wanted to enroll him in was full.
He fell into depression after winning his gold medal: 'It just came crashing down. No one teaches you how to process becoming an Olympic champion.'
He became a spokesperson for PeTA campaign against swim-with-dolphins parks (2017).
He announced his retirement from diving to focus on a music career (2019).

Why he might not be annoying:

His birth mother died from breast cancer when he was three.
He suffered a ruptured spleen, caused by a combination of swelling from undiagnosed infectious mononucleosis and the impact from his diving (January, 2009).
Shortly after his release from the hospital, he collapsed in his hotel room from a seizure and fell into a three-day coma.
Eighteen months after being told he would probably never dive again, he competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
He and Laugher won the first Olympic gold medals for Great Britain in diving.
He posed for Gay Times' 'Naked' issue (2013), joking, 'I'm trying to steal his [Tom Daley's] gay fanbase by doing this shoot.'
