The Resume

    (March 25, 1984- )
    Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
    Attended Columbia University
Founded Columbians for Academic Freedom (CAF), as a student in 2004
Editor at The Wall Street Journal (2013-17)
Staff editor at The New York Times (2017-20)
Wrote 'How to Fight Anti-Semitism' (2019)
Penned an open resignation letter to the New York Times accusing them of 'unlawful discrimination' and 'a hostile work environment' which went viral

Why she might be annoying:

She has identified as a conservative, a liberal, and 'left-leaning centrist' (in other words, her views are all over the place).
When Andrew Sullivan called her 'an unhinged Zionist' she responded 'happily plead guilty as charged.'
Glenn Greenwald accused her of trying to 'ruin the careers of Arab professors by equating their criticisms of Israel with racism, anti-Semitism, and bullying' during her time with CAF (she called the accusations 'baseless').
She walked back comments appearing to defend Brett Kavanaugh over accusations of misconduct during his Senate confirmation hearings, claiming his demeanor disqualified him.
When she was on Joe Rogan's Podcast, she tried to smear Tulsi Gabbard as an Assad apologist 'toady,' but when Rogan pressed her on it she answered: 'She said something bad, but i don't know what she said.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She dated Kate McKinnon in college.
She and her family worshiped at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life Synagogue (she had her Bar Mitzvah there).
The week after the Tree of Life shooting in 2018, she made an impassioned speech on Real Time with Bill Maher calling for tolerance.
Her resignation letter criticized her former employer for capitulating to criticism of their articles on Twitter.
She attested to experiencing workplace bullying and anti-semitic harassment by New York Times staff (and that her complaints about it to leadership were ignored).
Her fellow writers at the New York Times did publicly gang up on her on several occasions (most notably when she criticized the Women's March organizers and defended the publishing of an op-ed from Republican Senator Tom Cotton).
Her letter was supported and shared by both conservatives (Donald Trump, Jr., Ted Cruz) and liberals (Andrew Yang, Marianne Williamson).
