Why Yo! MTV Raps might be annoying:

Despite Ed Lover's attempts to stop him, Tupac Shakur boasted on the air about beating up Allen Hughes, leading to Tupac's arrest for assault.
Ol' Dirty Bastard appeared on the show drunk.
Ratings fell after MTV pulled Public Enemy's 'By the Time I Get To Arizona,' claiming the video was too violent.

Why Yo! MTV Raps might not be annoying:

It was originally MTV's way of ghettoizing rap music, but quickly became the network's most popular show.
It spread hip-hop to white America and, through MTV Europe and MTV Asia, the world.
During the last episode, a dozen rappers appeared to close out the show with a freestyle rap session.
