Hockey Player

The Resume

    (September 16, 1989- )
    Born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada
Drafted 93rd overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft
Starting goaltender for the Washington Capitals
    Vezina Trophy winner (2016)

Why he might be annoying:

Some hockey pundits initially considered him an afterthought in the Capitals farm system upon being drafted by the club.
He recorded 42 wins and 58 losses in his first two years playing in Saskatoon.
He fathered his oldest child out of wedlock.
He goes by the nickname 'Holts.'
He continued the Capitals franchise trend of allowing soft goals in crucial playoff games.
He didn't receive a lot of playing time in the World Cup of Hockey, as a result of playing behind Carey Price.

Why he might not be annoying:

He emerged as a number one goaltender on a weak Saskatoon team, which propelled his draft stock.
His emergence in the Capitals crease, made the likes of former first rounder Semyon Varlamov and Michal Neuvirth expendable.
He solidified his status as the team's starter, upon Barry Trotz taking over the coaching reigns.
He was the first Capitals goaltender since Olaf Kolzig to win the Vezina Trophy (2016).
He is involved in various charities within the Washington, D.C. area and is, most notably, the first member of the Capitals to participate in the Washington Pride Parade.
As a rookie, he guided the Capitals to a major upset over the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins and nearly guided the team to another upset over the New York Rangers (2012).
