The Resume

    (February 1, 1908-March 7, 1997)
    Born in Heilbronn, Germany
    Birth name was Emmanuel Heilbronner
    Produced Dr. Bronner's castile soap

Why he might be annoying:

The labels of his soaps are crammed with inscrutable religious ravings about 'All-One-God-Faith' and the 'Moral ABCs.'
He was committed to a mental hospital while promoting his plans for world peace.
His soap labels recommend a birth control technique involving lemons and Vaseline.
He frequently wore leopard-print swim trunks while discussing business with visitors.

Why he might not be annoying:

He dropped the 'Heil' from his name as a protest against the Nazis.
His parents were killed in the Holocaust.
He did no advertising, relying on word of mouth (and occasional newspaper articles about those odd labels).
At the time of his death he was selling a million bottles of soap a year, which he noted was not bad for a man who was supposedly insane.
