    Her first marriage lasted barely over a year.

    She held a wedding between her dog Sparky and her neighbors' dog Maggie.
    She said about people telling her that her books changed their lives, 'It's really lovely, and I'm really glad, but it makes me feel like an insane person.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    Her father was an L.A. police officer who participated in the arrests of Charles Manson and Sirhan Sirhan.
    After noticing a lack of bookstores in Nashville (the independent ones having been driven out of business by Borders and Barnes & Noble, which then went belly up thanks to Amazon), she founded Parnassus Books (2011).
    She was a guest on the last episode of Colbert Report, championing independent bookstores.
    Fellow author Barbara Kingsolver called her 'one of the truly most generous souls I've ever met.'
