The Resume

    (June 24, 1957-February 1, 1995)
    Aired on CBC
    Hosted by Fred Davis
Panelists included Pierre Berton, Allan Fotheringham (1984–1995), Betty Kennedy, Toby Robins (1957–1962), Gordon Sinclair (1957–1984), and Jack Webster (1990–1995)
A panel of journalists interviews an unseen guest to determine the news story that is presented to the studio audience and home viewers

Why Front Page Challenge might be annoying:

There were actually two other hosts: Win Barron for the summer of 1957, and Alex Barris as a fill-in host that year. (Otherwise, the same host throughout.)
Panelist Robins donned a blonde wig in an experiment that ended with death threats.
Several early episodes ended up lost in their entirety, but for some brief clips in the CBC archives.
Thanks mainly to budget cuts, no episode filmed after 1979 featured any non-Canadian guests. (Shania Twain was featured in the finale.)
Though the guests changed with the times, the only significant change in the panel was Fotheringham, following Sinclair’s death.

Why Front Page Challenge might not be annoying:

The format drew comparisons to What’s My Line and To Tell the Truth.
In their time, journalists were truly trustworthy and never considered perpetrators of ‘fake news.’
Unlike the more prim and proper quiz shows of the Boomer years, dirty language was the only censorship practice in question.
The guest list ran the gamut, to the point that many early guests were featured for stories outside their normal status.
Barris authored more than one book about the run of the series.
