Why he might be annoying:

He was arrogant, insubordinate and pompous.
Although a major general, he was replaced by General Horatio Gates in the middle of the Battle for Saratoga.
Gates called Arnold 'a pompous little fellow.'
Arnold felt he should have rose in ranks much quicker and had disdain for his fellow officers and congress.
As a widow, he threw social parties and met and married Margaret Shippen, she was 19 and half his age.
He fell into financial ruin and his finances came under investigation by congress.
He lost respect for congress and began to deal with the British.
He promised to deliver West Point (for over $1,000,000 in today's money) to the British.
His contact with British Major Andre was proved by the Americans, with many documents (in Arnold's handwriting) proving Arnold sold out to the British.
Arnold, then out in the open joined the British forces and fought the Americans.
After the war, he moved to Britain, and was held in contempt, even by the British.
The British felt his treason to America was not out of principle but out of selfishness.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was an American Revolutionary War hero.
He was wounded twice during the battles and rose to Major General and Commandant of Philadelphia (1778).
He is the only General to fight for both the Americans and the British in a war.
