Why HBO (TV Network) might be annoying:

They were the first pay cable channel.
They premiere movies on HBO many months after they have been in video stores.
In one of the worst business moves ever, HBO's parent company Time-Warner merged with AOL and then eventually split.
Michael Jackson collapsed while rehearsing his HBO special (December 6, 1995).
As if they don't make enough money from their network they put major (and not so major) boxing events on Pay Per View.
They were the first to scramble their signal.
They prosecute those who intercept their signal, without paying.
TV pirate, Captain Midnight (John R MacDougall) embarrassed HBO by commandeering their signal and televising over HBO (April 27, 1986).
Their original TV series are usually about ten episodes and there is more than a year delay between seasons.

Why HBO (TV Network) might not be annoying:

They paid a fortune for their opening theme, using a full city miniature, special effects and hiring a symphony orchestra.
When cable TV was unavailable in most of the outer boroughs of New York City, HBO was offered as a one channel pay service.
They were the first TV network to use satellites (1976).
    They are commercial free.
Because they dominated the annual ACE Cable Awards, the award was discontinued.
They then dominated the EMMY awards.
They were instrumental in launching a heavyweight boxing title unification tournament in 1986.
They introduced tons of new comedians on their comedy specials.
They televised the Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier 'Thrilla From Manila' boxing match (1986).
If you miss an episode of a show it is usually repeated a day or two later.
They offer HBO on-demand, which allows the viewer to select what show they want to see.
    Slogan:
    It's not TV, it's HBO
