    Second baseman for the Chicago Cubs (1961-63)
    National League Rookie of the Year (1962)
    Died in the crash of the private plane he was piloting

Why he might be annoying:

    Although he was an outstanding fielder, his hitting was still developing.
    In his rookie year, he led the NL in strikeouts (129) and grounding into double plays (20).
    Ironically, he became a pilot to conquer his fear of flying.
    He died before he could live up to his potential.
    Topps mistakenly used his photo on a baseball card of Cubs pitcher Dick Ellsworth (1966).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He played in the Little League World Series with a broken toe.
    In high school, he was an all-American in both football and basketball.
    He received a trophy from the Los Angeles Examiner as 'best all-around athlete in Southern California.' (1959)
    He was the first Major League baseball player to win a Golden Glove Award in his rookie season (1962).
    In his rookie year, he played 78 consecutive games without an error, breaking the Major League record held by Bobby Doerr.
    He helped Ron Santo quit smoking.
    Mayor Richard J. Daley said, 'There isn't a man in Chicago who wouldn't have been proud to have him for a son.'
