    National League Manager of the Year (2016)

    He became a journeyman player, after leaving the Red Sox.
    His stint as the Padres interim manager lasted one game.
    He nearly quit baseball, after being demoted to a California League team, only to have his father talk him out of it.
    His weak throwing skills allowed many opposing players to take advantage of it, by taking extra bases.
    He was injury prone during the later years of his career.
    He set a Major League Baseball managerial record by making 606 pitching changes in a single season.

    He served as a coach for the Padres for four seasons, prior to taking the Dodgers managerial job.
    He earned Manager of the Year honors, after he guided the Dodgers to their fourth consecutive NL West title, despite having 28 players on the disabled list during the course of the season.
    He guided the Dodgers to their first NLCS berth since their 1988 World Series victory in his first season at the helm (2016).
