The Resume

    (October 31, 1992-September 20, 1997)
    Born in United States
Aired on the FOX Network as part of the FOX Kids Saturday morning lineup
Based on the Marvel Comic Series, 'The Uncanny X-Men,' created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
Synopsis: A team of mutant superheroes fight for justice and human acceptance in the Marvel Comics universe
Roster included Professor Charles Xavier, Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast, Storm, Rogue, Jean Grey, Gambit, and Jubilee

Why X-Men: The Animated Series might be annoying:

    One word: Jubilee.
It was the second attempt at an X-Men series, after the unsuccessful 1989 Pilot, 'Pryde of the X-Men' (but we won't go there).
Many of the episodes were aired out of order, with some episodes not airing for two years after they should have, leading to major continuity gaps.
It ripped off the opening to 'Challenge of the Superfriends' by having the heroes charge headfirst into a group of villains in the closing shot.
The character of Morph was created as a throwaway character to be killed in the first episode, but he continued to make recurring appearances as an annoying anti-hero figure.
Storm had psionic control over the elements but for some reason chose to rant and wail verse to the winds unnecessarily (which got old pretty fast).
Jean Grey is one of the most powerful X-Men in the comics but the series relegates her to the role of Damsel in Distress, usually getting captured in humiliating ways (ex. tripping over a television cable while running away in 'MojoVision').
The most threatening villain on the show had a silly name even by X-Men standards ('Mister Sinister').
An entire Youtube Channel exists called 'WTFX-Men' devoted to awkward/inexplicable clips from the series (ex., Storm getting taken out by a half-empty tub of ice cream, Cyclops wailing 'Jeean,' etc.).
The last season was disappointing with comparably poor animation quality, having changed production companies in 1997.
FOX attempted to recapture the success with 'X-Men: Evolution' (2000) but it was neither as successful nor as entertaining.
It had a tie-in with Pizza Hut at the height of its popularity.
Storm, Gambit, and Magneto each went through two voice actors over the series' run.

Why X-Men: The Animated Series might not be annoying:

It is credited, along with 'Batman: The Animated Series,' with ushering in the era of comic-book animated TV series in the 1990s.
Wolverine's signature growl/wail became something of a catch-phrase among kids ('hrooww!').
There wasn't a kid in the 1990s who didn't have the show's awesome Rock & Roll instrumental theme song down by heart.
    Rogue was hot!
A Youtube video done by My Way Entertainment parodying an episode from the Phoenix Saga with overdubbing called 'I'M THE JUGGERNAUT BITCH' went viral, getting over 7 million views ('Go-o-od Damn!').
LeNore Zinn had a cold the day she auditioned to voice Rogue, resulting in the character's distinctive raspy voice which won her the part (she would retain it and call it her 'million-dollar-crack').
It is the longest running, and highest rated, Marvel animated series in cartoon history.
It named a story arc after a book by Friedrich Nietzsche,'Beyond Good and Evil,' (not bad for a show geared largely towards kids).
It has been hailed by many X-fans as more faithful to the original comic than the X-Men film franchise.
It did updated versions of the 'Days of the Future Past' and 'Phoenix/Dark Phoenix Saga' story arcs while still managing to stay true to the original material.
It tackled such heavy topics as racism, divorce, religion, child abuse, eugenics, and genocide (in one episode even having Storm, Gambit, and Jubilee end up in a concentration camp).
It was stylistically based on Jim Lee's artwork for the X-Men reboot, the first issue of which is ranked by Guinness as the best-selling comic in history.
It was popular enough to warrant multiple guest appearances on Marvel's other FOX Kids show, 'Spider Man.'
It ranked #13 in IGN's list of 100 Greatest Animated Shows.
