Suffered a fatal heart attack while walking offstage after a performance at a club in Canterbury, England

Why he might be annoying:

He had a brief spell as a professional wrestler, performing as the 'Masked Executioner.'
Before recording for the label, he was a debt collector for Trojan Records.
His 'Big Six/Seven/Eight/Etc.' schtick of lewd nursery rhymes over reggae beats was ripped off from Prince Buster's 'Big5.'
His innuendos were called 'as subtle as a smack in the ear with a housebrick.'
A record-setting eleven of his records were banned by the BBC.
He unsuccessfully sued the makers of the film 'Judge Dredd,' claiming it damaged his reputation (1995).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first white singer with a reggae hit in Jamaica.
Many Jamaicans thought he was black until he performed there in person.
He organized a benefit concert featuring himself, Desmond Dekker and the Wailers for famine relief in Ethiopia (1973).
He had eleven chart hits in Britain during the 70s, more than any other reggae artist -- even Bob Marley.
He said, 'When I started, it was the glam rock era with Slade, Sweet, T. Rex. They're all gone now and the one they though would be a one hit wonder is still here.'
