    Outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1976-78) and the Oakland Athletics (1978-79)
    Died at age 43 as a result of complications from AIDS

Why he might be annoying:

    He was a below average baseball player at the Major League level.
    He abused cocaine in the later stages of his life.
    His sexuality created problems between him and the Dodgers front office.
    He was arrested for drug possession (1987).
    He ruined his life by becoming dependent on drugs following his retirement from athletic competition.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the first openly gay player in Major League history.
    When the Dodgers arranged a sham marriage during his stint with the team, he wisely refused to co-operate.
    He is credited with starting the 'high five' trend.
    He earned gold medals in track and field at the inaugural Gay Games (1982).
    He admitted he retired from baseball as a result of being overwhelmed by the prejudice he received over his sexuality.
