Why he might be annoying:

His nickname was 'The Old Man of the Mountain.'
He elected to play the remainder of his career without a helmet, after he was choked with his chinstrap by an opposing player.
He lied about his age in order to enlist in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces.
He came out of retirement at the age of 38 to help the Tigers win a playoff game, only to retire again after the game's end.

Why he might not be annoying:

He served with the RCAF during World War I.
He was a durable bruising running back, who wasn't afraid to use his size and speed to his advantage.
He was a member of four Grey Cup championship teams (3 as a player, 1 as a coach).
He played in the Tigers 1938 playoff game with infected tonsils and shoulder neuritis, which left his left arm limp.
He has a stadium in Hamilton, Ontario named in his honor.
