U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (August 20, 1962- )
    Born in Van Nuys, California
    Congressional Representative for Montana's at-large district (2013-15)
US Senator from Montana (assumed office January 3, 2015)
    Republican

Why he might be annoying:

He co-sponsored a bill that would have allowed nonprofit organizations opposed to same-sex marriage to engage in partisan politics while prohibiting pro-LGBT rights nonprofits from doing the same (2013).
He was one of many Republican Senators who refused to allow a confirmation hearing for Merrick Garland ('American people have already begun voting on who the next President will be.') then rushed through Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation hearing even closer to an election.
While arguing against statehood for the District of Columbia, he said members of Congress should 'get out of this city, go to where the real people are.' (2020)
He ran a 2020 reelection ad boasting about his efforts to protect constituents with pre-existing medical conditions, despite having voted for Obamacare repeal bills that would have allowed insurers to drop coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.
After Donald Trump had peaceful demonstrators dispersed with tear gas so he could stage a photo op at a church, Daines said he was 'grateful for the President's leadership.' (2020)

Why he might not be annoying:

He was student body president in high school.
Before going into politics, he worked for Procter and Gamble and RightNow Technologies.
He enjoys mountain climbing and has scaled Grand Teton and Granite Peaks.
The first bill he introduced as a Senator would have made Senators forfeit their salaries if they did not pass a budget that would balance in ten years.
He opposes an internet sales tax.
