Why he might be annoying:

He had the most generic name in the English language.
He was accused of plotting mutiny on the voyage over to Virginia.
He always wrote of himself in the third person.
He was extremely pretentious, often fabricating stories to build his own legend.
Due to his stories' questionable authenticity, he probably didn't actually have a fling with Pocahontas.
If he truly did bang Pocahontas, she would've been no more than 15 years old.

Why he might not be annoying:

He invented the term 'New England' to describe the Maine and Massachusetts areas.
He was captured by the Ottomans and sold as a slave (1602).
He claimed he escaped slavery by seducing a Turkish girl into setting him free.
Under his leadership, the Jamestown settlement grew and its quality of life improved.
His method of leadership was, 'He who does not work, will not eat.'
He nearly died from being stung by a stingray.
