Why he might be annoying:

He was married four times, divorced three times.
Many models decided to pose for him less out of admiration for his art than for access to a bathtub with hot water. (He was the only artist in Montparnasse who could afford such a luxury.)
He had a tattoo of a watch on his wrist.
Occasionally, instead of a hat, he wore a lampshade and said it was his national headdress.
During World War II, he produced propaganda for the Japanese government.

Why he might not be annoying:

He took dance lessons from Isadora Duncan and was good enough to consider a career in dancing instead of art.
He courted his second wife, painter Fernande Barrey, by making her a blouse overnight.
He was the first artist from the Paris School to be a success, outselling Picasso into the 1920s.
During a trip through Latin America, over 10,000 people lined up for his autograph in Buenos Aires (1931).
He received the French Legion of Honor (1957).
