    Appeared in the films 'Basant' (1942), 'Neel Kamal' (1947), 'Mahal' (1949), 'Dulari' (1949), 'Saiyan' (1951), 'Amar' (1954), 'Mr. & Mrs. '55' (1955), 'Howrah Bridge' (1958), 'Mughal-e-Azam' (1960), 'Boy Friend' (1961), 'Half Ticket' (1962), 'Sharabi' (1964) and 'Jwala' (1971)

    In making movies, she went for quantity over quality.
    She was labeled box office poison after a series of flops in the mid-50s.
    At her father's insistance, she turned down an offer from Frank Capra to make a film in Hollywood.
    She had a long affair with frequent co-star Dilip Kumar.
    When nervous, she would giggle uncontrollably, often distracting co-stars and directors.
