He lost control of his sports car and crashed it into an overpass.
He apparently consumed alcohol and painkillers which were contributing factors in his death.
He spent the last few seasons of his career playing on some really mediocre teams.
Many people only know his name because of the donut chain.

He co-founded a successful donut chain that has become a staple in Canadian culture.
He was a seven time NHL all-star.
He was known to be a workhorse defenseman in the 1950's and 60's.
After he passed away, the Sabres retired his number 2.
He was a member of the 1967 Stanley Cup winning Maple Leafs team.
