He is an adult who likes comic book.
His trademark 'Spawn' was made into a motion picture movie, which bombed.
He paid $3,000,000 for Mark McGwire's 70th home run ball (1998) only to see Barry Bonds eclipse the record and make the ball almost devoid of value (2001).
He purchased Barry Bonds' 73rd home run ball for $450,000 (June 25, 2003).
He was sued successfully by Neil Gaiman over a co-created character.

Why he might not be annoying:

His style of drawing is unique.
When working for Marvel Comics, his artistic talent improved the look of many characters.
He created 'Spawn.'
He wanted to be a baseball player, but he gave it up to be an artist.
Mcfarlane toys is a highly successful toy company.
He names many of the characters in his comic book after his friends and family.
Some of his toys are confused with professional sculpture, because of their amazing details.
He enjoys signing autographs and meeting the public.
