Why he might be annoying:

Some people think Jethro Tull is his name, rather than the name of his band.
He was a smoker.
He ruined his voice in the mid-1980s (the aforementioned smoking habit might have been a contributing factor).

Why he might not be annoying:

He wrote virtually all of Jethro Tull's music.
He plays the flute, guitar, keyboard, saxophone, violin, harmonica and trumpet.
Unlike most rock stars of his time, he's never used any hard drugs.
He runs a fish-farming business.
He supports many charities.
