Vocalist

The Resume

    (1938-May 28, 2016)
    Born in Hendersonville, Tennessee
    Middle name was Eugene
Recorded the singles 'Makin Love' (1959) 'Why Can't It Go On' (1960) and 'Back in School Again' (1960)

Why he might be annoying:

He never charted again after 'Makin Love' (one hit wonder).
He recorded teen-oriented singles into his thirties.
'Makin' Love' was pulled from the airwaves after only a few weeks because radio stations considered its content to be too sexuallly suggestive.
He tried to rip off Alvin and the Chipmunks sound with his own 'Christian animal music' (e.g. Charlie the Hamster Sings the Ten Commandments).
The copy was so apparent that the estate of Dave Seville sued him for it in 1977. The matter was settled out of court, and he discontinued making his animal records.

Why he might not be annoying:

He formed his first band, The Eagle Rangers, and the group entertained at local teen dance parties and school functions.
The Eagle Rangers served as the touring band for such stars as George Jones, Jim Reeves, and Eddy Arnold and performed in the Grand Ol' Opry.
'Makin Love' reached No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 27 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart in 1959.
'Makin Love' was popular overseas and had cover versions recorded in French, German, Dutch, Italian and Spanish.
He wrote the novelty song 'The Little Space Girl.' It was recorded by his cousin, Jesse Lee Turner, and became a pop hit.
He published two books, 1992’s instruction manual 'Guitar Playing Made Easy' and 1994’s novel 'The Guitar.'
