Why Republican Party might be annoying:

    Many members come across as arrogant.
    The only president to resign in US history (Richard Nixon) was a Republican.
    Depending on who you ask, GOP stands for 'Grand Old Party' or 'Gallant Old Party.'
    Republican presidential candidates have twice won the electoral vote while barely losing the popular vote.
    Some of its members continue to deny the existence of global warming.
    A Republican president (Richard Nixon) back stabbed Taiwan by recognizing the communist government of China.
    Immediately before World War II began, most of its members were isolationists (this changed after Pearl Harbor, however).
    It is often perceived as being insensitive to the working poor.
    Its beliefs sometimes interfere with the separation of church and state.
    Sometimes its free trade policies hurt American workers as businesses find cheaper employees elsewhere.
    It supports abstinence education in schools, which is often counterproductive.

Why Republican Party might not be annoying:

    It balances the Democratic party so that neither party is too powerful.
    It strongly supports helping protect allied democracies such as the UK, Taiwan, Canada, most of Europe, Japan, South Korea, and Australia.
    The Republicans were the first major party to favor women's suffrage (in 1896) and were instrumental in the passage of the 19th Amendment that mandated women's voting rights.
    The party's ideology emphasizes individual rights and responsibilities.
    Like the Democratic Party, it supports the death penalty.
    Taxes are usually cut by Republican politicians.
    It supports supplying the military with modern weapons and equipment.
    It received the most middle-class votes in all presidential elections since 1948, except in 1964.
    Republican presidents actively attacked communism through foreign policy, drawing the Soviets into an arms race until their economy collapsed.
    It is a third party success story (at the time of its formation, the government was dominated by the Democrat and Whig parties).
    It strongly supports entrepreneurship.
    Republican-dominated legislatures passed the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, abolishing slavery, securing equal protection under the law, and giving voting rights to all ethnicities.
    It got its start as an abolitionist party.
